It is composed of two parts.
Had + Past participale of the main verb.
Ex: To decid
Affirmative Negative Interrogative
I had decided I hadn't decided
You had decided You hadn't decided
He had decided He hadn't decided
She had decided She hadn't decided
It had decided It hadn't decided
We had decided We hadn't decided
You had decided You hadn't decided
They had decided They hadn't decided
Rule:
- Affirmative : Subject + Had + Past participale.
- Negative : Subject + Hadn't + Past paricipale.
- Interrogative : Had + Subject + Past participale?
- Interrogative negative: Hadn't + Subject + Past participale?
II- Uses:
- The past perfect refers to a time earlier than before now it's used to make it clear that one even before than other in the past it doesn't matter which event mentioned first, the tebse ( P.P ) makes it clear which which event happen first.
- I had saved my document before the computer crashed.
- When they arrived; we had already standed cooking.
- We use in the sequence of past event.
- Before she got the degree, she had studied four years.
- As soon as he had entered the roo, I pickrd up my books.
Remark:
When we have " After " or " As soon as " in the middle of sentence we can use simple past or past perfect.
- Hardly had me arrived than t is started to rain.
- Scarely had she left than her husband phoned.
- We used in the indirect speech.
- We used in the conditional type III
